How to Import Your Files into Xodo

Importing files into Xodo is a straightforward process. There are two ways to import files: through the Control Panel or from within the app.

Method 1: Importing via Control Panel

  1. If you have just downloaded the file, it might appear in your Control Panel. To access the Control Panel, swipe down from the top of your screen to reveal the notifications panel.
  2. Look for the download notification related to the file you want to import.
  3. Tap on the download notification to open it.
  4. In the options that appear, select “Open With” and choose “Xodo” 
  5. If the file download notification does not appear in the Control Panel, you can manually locate the file. Go to the “My Files” app and navigate to the “Downloads” folder.
  6. Find the downloaded file and tap on it.
  7. A pop-up will appear with the option “Open With.” Tap on it.
  8. From the list of options, select “Xodo” to import the file into Xodo.
  9. If the pop-up does not appear, you can long-press the document, then tap on “More” located at the bottom left corner under the three dots (…) icon.
  10. Click on “Open With” and select “Xodo.”

Method 2: Importing from Within the App

  1. Locate the Xodo on your device and open it.
  2. In the bottom right-corner there is plus (+) icon, tap on it.
  3. Click “View & Edit File”
  4. Click “On My Device.”
  5. Click “Folder.”
  6. Once you locate your file, tap on it to import it into Xodo.

Method 3: Import from the Files App (Apple)

  1. Locate the file you downloaded in the Files app.
  2. Long-press on the file to bring up the options menu.
  3. Tap on “Share” from the menu.
  4. Look for the “Open in Xodo” option. If it doesn’t appear, tap on “More” or “Edit Actions.”
  5. Click on the “Import” button to complete the import process.

Xodo offers a seamless experience for utilizing hyperlinks and annotations simultaneously, showcasing its remarkable versatility. There are two methods to access hyperlinks within the app.

  1. Open your file in Xodo.
  2. In the upper-left corner, click on “View” (there is a downward arrow).
  3. Select “Annotate” from the dropdown menu.
  4. A toolbar will appear underneath, providing various annotation tools. Whenever you click on a tool (pen, highlighter etc) you enter Writing mode. Hyperlinks are not clickable while an annotation tool is active.
  5. To access reading mode and enable hyperlinks, simply deactivate the annotation tool.
  6. Now, you can click on hyperlinks within the document.
  1. Open your file in Xodo
  2. Click on the three vertical dots icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select “Settings” from the dropdown menu.
  4. Tap on “App settings” and then “Settings.”
  5. Under “Stylus,” activate the “Stylus as Pen” feature.
  6. Click “Back” (the arrow pointing to the left in the upper-left corner) until you return to your document.
  7. Now, you can use your stylus for writing or drawing, while hyperlinks can be clicked using your fingers.

Important: When “Stylus as Pen” is active, hyperlinks can only be accessed only with your fingers; stylus clicking is not supported.

How to Change the Cover of your Planner/Notebook/Journal

  1. Open the file in Xodo.
  2. In the top right corner, you will find a matrix icon that resembles a square made out of dots. Click on it.
  3. This will display all the pages in your planner/notebook/journal.
  4. Locate the bottom right corner of the screen and click on the plus (+) icon.
  5. A menu will appear with three options: “Page””, From Image” and “From Another Document”.
    • If you choose “From Image”, you can add a single cover image.
    • If you select “From Another Document”, the entire PDF file will be added.
    • Select the appropriate option based on your preference.
  6. If you chose “From Image”, browse your device’s gallery to select the desired cover image.
  7. If you choose “From PDF”, browse your files until you find the PDF containing the covers.
  8. Once you have inserted the image, hold and drag it to the first position to set it as the cover.

How to Add Stickers to Your Planner/Notebook/Journal

  1. Open the Xodo app.
  2. Open the document to which you want to add stickers.
  3. In the top left corner, you will find the “View” option followed by an arrow pointing down. Click on it.
  4. From the dropdown menu, select “Insert”. This will bring up a toolbar.
  5. Within the toolbar, select the image icon.
  6. Tap on the document where you want to place the sticker. A pop-up with several options will appear.
    • Choose “Gallery” to access your device’s image gallery and select the desired sticker.
    • If the stickers do not appear in the gallery, choose “Files” and navigate to the stickers folder to select the desired sticker.
  7. Adjust the size and position of the sticker to your preference.
  8. If you click on the sticker, a pop-up with five icons will appear above it.
  9. Click on the three vertical dots icon to access additional options.
    • From the options, you can choose to duplicate the sticker or flatten it.
    • If you select “flatten”, the sticker will become a part of the page and can no longer be moved. If you clicked “flatten” and realize that you need to make changes to the size or position of the sticker, click on the “Undo” arrow located in the top right corner, next to the “Presets” box.
