Method 2: Importing from Within the App

  2. In the top-right corner of the app, you’ll find a PDF icon next to the search icon (magnifying glass).
  3. Tap on the PDF icon to access the document import feature.

  5. You can use the search icon (magnifying glass) to search for your planner by its name or scroll through the list until you find it.
  6. Once you locate your planner, tap on it to import it into Samsung Notes.

Samsung Notes provides the ability to use hyperlinks within your digital planner. It’s important to note that hyperlinks can only be utilized when you are in the reading mode of Samsung Notes. Here’s how you can access the reading mode and utilize hyperlinks:

  1. Launch the Samsung Notes app on your device.
  2. In the top-right corner of the app, you will find five icons:
    • Full Screen: Tapping this icon will expand the app to full-screen mode.
    • Writing Mode: This icon appears like a pen on paper and represents the writing mode. OR Reading Mode: The icon is an open book with blank pages.
    • Sort Pages: It is represented by a page with lines icon and allows you to organize your pages.
    • Search: The magnifying glass icon helps you search for specific content within Samsung Notes. OR Attachment: It is represented by a clip icon
    • More: The three vertical dots icon opens additional settings and options.
  3. To access reading mode and enable hyperlinks, check the presence of the reading mode icon. Depending on your current mode (reading or writing), the icons will appear alternatively. For example:
    • If you are in writing mode, the reading mode icon (an open book with blank pages) will be available.
    • If you are in reading mode, the writing mode icon (pen on paper) will be available.
  4. Ensure you are in writing mode by confirming the presence of the writing mode icon (pen on paper) in the top-right corner.
  5. If you are in writing mode, tap the writing mode icon to switch to reading mode.
  6. Once in reading mode, indicated by the reading mode icon (open book with blank pages), you can start using hyperlinks.

Remember, the appearance of the reading mode and writing mode icons will alternate based on your current mode.

Hyperlinks will only function when you are in reading mode. If you need to make any edits or modifications to your planner, you will need to switch back to writing mode by tapping on the writing mode icon (pen on paper) in the top-right corner.

How to Change the Cover of Your Planner/Notebook/Journal

You can change the cover image of your planner, notebook, or journal in Samsung Notes. There are two methods: without using split-screen and using split-screen. Let’s explore both options:

Method 1: Without Using Split-Screen

  1. To change the cover, you need to import the PDF with the covers into Samsung Notes (refer to the first section on how to do that).
  2. Open the PDF in Samsung Notes. In the top-right corner, you will find five icons: Full Screen, Writing/Reading Mode, Sort Pages, Search/Attachment, and More.
  3. Tap on the Sort Pages icon (a page with three lines) to access the page organization feature.
  4. On the left side of the screen, you will see all the pages in your document. Scroll through them and choose the image that you want as the cover.
  5. Click on the three vertical dots at the bottom-right corner and select “Copy.”
  6. Exit the PDF and open the document (planner, notebook, journal) for which you want to change the cover.
  7. Tap on the Sort Pages icon to access the page organization feature.
  8. Click on the three dots of the current cover image and select “Paste.” The newly copied image will be inserted as the new cover.
  9. You have two options: either click on the three dots of the old cover and click “Delete,” or long-press (1-2 seconds) on the newly-added cover and move it to the first position.

Congratulations! You have successfully changed the cover.

Method 2: Using Split-Screen

  1. Open the Control Panel and put your device in landscape mode for easier navigation.
  2. Import the PDF with the covers into Samsung Notes (refer to the first section on how to do that).
  3. Click on the three lines from the menu to see all the open windows. Locate the window where the covers are.
  4. Tap on the Samsung Notes app icon above that window and select “Open as Split Screen.”
  5. In the new window, search for the Samsung Notes app using the search function located in the top-right corner (magnifying glass).
  6. Open the document for which you want to change the cover.
  7. In both screens, you will find five icons in the top-right corner: Full Screen, Writing/Reading Mode, Sort Pages, Search/Attachment, and More.
  8. Tap on the Sort Pages icon (a page with three lines) to access the page organization feature.
  9. On the left side of the screen, you will see all the pages in your document. Scroll through them and choose the image that you want as the cover.
  10. Click on the three vertical dots at the bottom-right corner and select “Copy.”
  11. Repeat steps 6-10 for the document where you want to change the cover, but this time click “Paste.” The image will be inserted as the new cover.
  12. You have two options: either click on the three dots of the old cover and click “Delete,” or long-press (1-2 seconds) on the newly-added cover and move it to the first position.
  13. Exit the Sort Pages mode.

Congratulations! You have successfully changed the cover.

To exit split-screen mode, you can either long-press on the screen divider with three dots and drag it to the maximum side so that the file you want to keep is stretched, which will automatically revert to a single screen. Alternatively, you can go back to the all-window view, delete the window with the split-screen.

Note: I personally prefer using it in landscape mode. If you’d prefer to have the split-screen in Portrait mode, I recommend you click on the three dots of the spilt-screen divider and choose the windows-on-top-of-each-other position. I think it makes navigating the files easier. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.
